The 'Silent Boat' describes the journey of the first Australian cricket team to tour England in 1868.
The governments, Aboriginal Protection Board, prevented Aboriginal people moving around the colonies. So our first team organised a 'fishing trip' that rendezvoued with another boat, taking them first to Sydney then on to Kent, England. They avoided the governments policies and took their future into their own hands.
The team, predominately made up of indigenous players form the Western District, along with their captain Charles Lawrence, witnessed the prejudice of the time, fury of the Southern ocean and the humility of sport.
