I wrote this track when I first arrived in the N.T. The tiny caravan used to get knocked around with in the monsoonal storms. I was playing for the Wanderers Football Club and was living at the club rooms. This song is about reflecting on how comfortable I felt in the new town/club and how I disagreed with some 'advice' I received before I left the to NT.
lyrics
Not all Wanderers are lost
I hear a scurry on the ground
Red dust in the air
The monitor escapes from not only me
But the heat which is all around
And it’s gotten so hot
Sweat down my back
But the air is already so full of sweat
It’s like me and has no where to go
I here this crack thunder storm ahead
My only shelter is this little caravan
Ten thousand volts above my head
Not all that glitters is made of gold
Not all that’s earned is brought and sold
But now your so far away is that the cost
Because don’t you know
that not all wanderers are lost
So much trouble around us
Like a calm island in a turbulent sea
Have a look around as soon as you touch down
See how damaging generalising can be
So mush trouble I know
or is it all misunderstood
your lies feed me before I arrive
Judgmental attitudes won’t get past the cover of any book
Not all that glitters is made of gold
Not all that’s earned is brought and sold
But now your so far away is that the cost
Because don’t you know
that not all wanderers are lost
